Preparing for July 4th

More dogs go missing on July 4th than any other day of the year. That’s because fireworks can be terrifying for dogs, even more so than thunder.
When your dog is inside while fireworks are going off, they might seek shelter in a safe space. But if they’re outside, they could slip their leash and run away.
Fortunately, there are ways to help protect your pup.
- Try to keep them inside during fireworks displays.
- Make sure your dog is microchipped and wearing ID tags in case you’re separated.
- Use a harness or slip lead instead of a leash that attaches directly to the dog’s collar.
- Keep calm, because your anxiety only makes your dog more anxious.
Have a safe, happy holiday– both you and your pup!
